Program Overview

The Automotive Service Technician - Toyota program is a 32-week modified apprenticeship that combines in-class learning with paid work experience at a Toyota/Lexus dealership. It provides training in Toyota/Lexus-specific products, electronics, and diagnostics, preparing individuals for a career as an Automotive Service Technician. Upon completion, participants earn an Ontario College Certificate and certification as a Motive Power Fundamentals apprentice.

• The Automotive Service Technician - Toyota program has been designed to train individuals to be Automotive Service Technicians for Toyota/Lexus dealers.
• This is a modified apprenticeship program that combines in-class learning with on-the-job training at a Toyota/Lexus dealership.
• The program is 32 weeks long, with alternating four-week periods of in-class learning and paid work experience at a Toyota/Lexus dealership.
• Applicants must be employed by a Toyota or Lexus dealership, secure employment, and register as a MAP apprentice with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development.

Objectives:

• Learn the traditional apprenticeship curriculum, plus additional training specific to Toyota/Lexus products, including operation, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Explore electronics and gain knowledge in diagnosing computerized control systems.
• Gain hands-on experience working on Toyota vehicles and components in fully-equipped automotive labs.
• Develop the technical skills needed for a career as an Automotive Service Technician.
