This Master of Arts in Education: Special Education degree prepares graduates to create inclusive learning environments for students with disabilities. Graduates gain expertise in current laws, technologies, and evidence-based practices for supporting learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. The program satisfies the coursework requirements for becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and offers additional endorsements in English as a Second Language, Principal Supervision, or Teacher of Students with Disabilities.

  • This Master of Arts in Education: Special Education degree prepares graduates to create classroom environments that are conducive to the learning needs of those with disabilities.
  • Objectives:
  • Graduates will gain a deep knowledge of current laws and technologies that affect special education and how to design curriculums in inclusive environments. They will also learn how to help maximize the potential of uniquely-abled learners to create and sustain independence in their lives and make meaningful gains.
  • Program Description:
  • Graduates will learn behavioral observation methods, evidence-based practices for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities, applied behavioral analysis strategies, and ethics and professional standards.
  • The program satisfies the international Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s (BACB) coursework requirements for becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Students will also take an additional 12 credits in either English as a Second Language, Principal Supervision, or Teacher of Students with Disabilities to prepare for an additional state endorsement and further enhance their marketability.
  • Evening and online courses are offered to help students balance their schedule while pursuing their degree.
