The ESL Specialist Certification Preparation Program at ESU is a 16-credit online program designed for teachers seeking to enhance their skills in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to students in grades K-12. The program consists of six courses offered on a two-year rotation, providing teachers with the knowledge and strategies to effectively address the needs of diverse learners, integrate second language learning into their teaching, and improve classroom management techniques.

This ESL Specialist Certification Preparation (K–12) Program offers 16 credits worth of coursework. The courses are taken online through Zoom Classrooms in the evenings during the Fall and Spring semesters. During the Summer sessions, the courses are available during the daytime to better suit teachers’ schedules. The program requires the completion of 6 courses. The courses are offered on a two-year rotation, and applicants may enter the program at any time.
