The English and Creative Writing program is designed for students passionate about literature and creative expression. Core Curriculum:

  • Aesthetic Inquiry and Creative Experience (6 hours): Explores the nature of aesthetic experience, creativity, and artistic expression.
  • Historical and Social Interpretation (12 hours): Examines the interplay between literature, history, and society.
  • Scientific Investigation (7 hours including one lab): Develops an understanding of scientific methods and their applications.

English and Creative Writing Core (6 hours):

  • Two of the following courses:
  • Doing Things with Words:
  • Analyzes the persuasive power of language and explores various rhetorical strategies.
  • Literature Across Time: Surveys English literature from its origins to contemporary times.
  • Introduction to Creative Writing: Introduces the fundamental principles and techniques of creative writing.
