The Visual Communication—Multimedia Major (B.S.V.C.) at Ohio University is a comprehensive program that prepares students for careers in visual communication across various platforms and disciplines. The program has been recognized twice as a Program of Excellence by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and is housed within the Scripps College of Communication, recognized as a Center of Excellence by the state. The degree program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in visual communication while emphasizing practical, hands-on training. It encompasses:
- Publication design, data visualization, and informational graphics: Prepares students for careers in magazine, newspaper, corporate, and non-governmental organization (NGO) communication fields.
- Interactive design and UX for web and digital mobile platforms: Equips students for careers in a wide range of communication settings.
- Documentary photojournalism and video storytelling: Prepares students for careers in newspapers, magazines, NGOs, and online venues.
