This 50-week early childhood education qualification prepares educators to support children's well-being and development in regulated Australian care services. It includes 40 weeks of structured delivery, 200 hours of practical work placement, and independent study. Graduates are equipped to work in long day care centers, family day care, pre-schools, or kindergartens.

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. They support children’s wellbeing, and development in the context of an approved learning framework. Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge using discretion and judgment when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and procedures. They may work independently or under the guidance of others, though in some contexts that guidance may not be on-site. Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens. The qualification is delivered over 50 weeks this includes 40 weeks of structured delivery (minimum 20 hours per week) which may include orientation, scheduled classes, course related information sessions, supervised study sessions, assessment and work placement; plus 10 weeks (maximum)holidays. Students are required to complete 200 hours (minimum 5 hours per week) of practical work placement in an Australian regulated education and care service throughout their course. This is included in your 23 hours per week. At Blue Bay College we will assist our students in obtaining work placement. In addition you will be required to complete up to a maximum of 6 hours per week independent, unsupervised activities. Refer to your Student Handbook for further details.
