Program Overview

This two-day course provides comprehensive training on the safe use of chainsaws from mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs). It covers hazards, risks, controls, emergency procedures, industry guides, legislation, safe working loads, and practical operation. Assessment includes a one-to-one practical assessment with oral questioning by an NPTC City & Guilds-approved assessor.

• Module 2: Emergency Procedures
• Description: Outlines the emergency procedures to be followed in the event of an accident or incident.
• Module 3: Industry Guides and Legislation
• Description: Provides an overview of the relevant industry guides and legislation governing the use of chainsaws from MEWPs.
• Module 4: Safe Working Loads
• Description: Explains the concept of safe working loads and how to calculate the safe working load for a given MEWP and chainsaw combination.
• Module 5: Setting Up and Operating a Mobile Elevated Work Platform
• Description: Covers the proper procedures for setting up and operating a MEWP, including safety checks and inspections.
• Module 6: Using a Chainsaw from a MEWP
• Description: Provides hands-on training in the safe and efficient use of a chainsaw from a MEWP.
