Degree Overview:

Our 6-month CPD (Continuing Professional Development) course aims to support qualified midwives aspiring to re-register with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). It offers a structured pathway for re-entering midwifery practice. Your expertise and experience are highly valued during this crucial time for the profession's growth. Applicants accepted directly onto the course will receive full funding and a bursary from Health Education England upon successful completion.


Objectives:

  • Enhance your clinical skills to meet evolving healthcare needs in various practice settings.
  • Explore evidence-based practice and its application in delivering client-centered quality care.
  • Encourage reflection on practice advancements and the integration of emerging evidence.

Outline:

The course comprises a single 60-credit module (Level 6) delivered through a blended learning approach.


Theory:

Delivered online through our virtual learning system.


Practice:

Involves a minimum of 150 supernumerary practice hours (with a maximum of 450 hours) under the guidance of a Practice Supervisor, Practice Assessor, and Academic Assessor, all experienced midwives.


Course Schedule:


Assessment:

Competence in clinical practice is evaluated on a pass/fail basis. Course completion requires satisfactory achievement in assessment tasks, including:

  • Multi-station Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
  • Reflective discussion
  • Medicines calculation exam
  • Fulfillment of the NMC standards of proficiency for midwives (2019) outlined in the Practice Assessment Document
