Program Overview
This Level 3 Land-based Service Engineering Technician apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with scheduled sessions at Writtle College or the CNH National Training Center. Students build a portfolio and engage in continuous assessment, culminating in an independent Endpoint Assessment. Graduates are prepared for management, sales, and research roles in the land-based sector, addressing challenges in climate and production.
Program Outline
Assessment:
Throughout on-the-job training, students will build a portfolio to demonstrate their understanding and abilities in core areas and engage in continuous assessment during their learning. Completion of this apprenticeship requires passing an independent Endpoint Assessment (EPA). The EPA includes: an online knowledge test, practical assignments, and a presentation with a professional discussion.
Teaching:
Delivery occurs predominantly at the workplace, complemented by scheduled training sessions at Writtle College or the Case and New Holland (CNH) National Training Center. These sessions are provided by qualified professionals with hands-on industry experience. Tutors provide individual support throughout the program.
Careers:
Graduates with a Level 3 Land-based Service Engineering Technician apprenticeship and at least 36 months of relevant experience may pursue management, sales, product development, and research roles within the land-based sector. This apprenticeship prepares individuals to contribute to addressing current and future challenges in climate and production, offering opportunities for a long-term and fulfilling career.

Entry Requirements:
- Employment in a suitable role on a permanent contract exceeding 30 hours per week.
- Either Level 2 in Maths and English; or Level 1 in Maths and English and willingness to study at level 2*.
- Employer support to undertake this course.
- Confirmed eligibility to be funded as an apprentice as set out within the ESFA’s Funding Rules.
- A completed Initial Needs Assessment Form.
