This full-time, 1-year (9-month) postgraduate program provides advanced-level learners, typically holding a primary degree or equivalent qualifications and prior experience in development context, with the tools and knowledge to thrive in various settings within the field. The focus is on equipping them with the ability to critically analyze policies and practices, hone leadership skills, and master critical reflection, research, and project planning/management/evaluation. The curriculum delves into contemporary theories of social change and development, while fostering strong leadership and group collaboration skills. Additionally, learners receive in-depth training in planning, managing, and evaluating development projects.

The program encompasses 60 ECTS credits, where learners are required to complete four compulsory taught modules (35 credits):

Undergraduate Degree:
- Qualification: Bachelor's degree (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent honours degree) in a development-related discipline (e.g., agricultural science, anthropology, economics, education, engineering, geography, health-related discipline, nutrition, rural development, sociology or other social science) or a recognized international equivalent.
- Minimum Grade: 2.2 or higher
- Professional Experience: Those with a professional background in work related to international development are particularly welcome to apply.
- Exemptions: In exceptional cases, applicants without a primary degree may be considered on the strength of their professional work experience, other qualifications, and completion of a qualifying essay.
English Language Requirements:
- English as First Language: Applicants for whom English is their first language are not subject to language proficiency requirements.
- English as Second Language: Applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study. The following tests and scores are accepted as evidence of English language proficiency:
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 80 (internet-based)
- IELTS: Minimum overall score of 6.5, with no individual band score below 6.0
- PTE Academic: Minimum score of 62
- Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): Minimum overall score of 176
- Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Minimum overall score of 180

Language Proficiency Requirements:
- English Language Proficiency: As mentioned above, applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to demonstrate their proficiency in English by providing test scores from one of the accepted tests and achieving the minimum required score.

- Personal Statement: A 500-word personal statement describing your academic and professional goals, including relevant work experience, research interests in the field of international development, and professional/career goals and how the Postgraduate Diploma in International Development aligns with those goals.
- Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation from referees who have agreed to write letters on your behalf. The reference letters should be included with the other documents uploaded. It is recommended to seek references from academic sources, but if you do not have recent academic experience, professional references may be considered.
