Health and Safety Compliance for Land Agents Engaging Self Employed Workers
Program Overview
Following the successful prosecution of a firm of land agents by the HSE on the sad death of a sub-contractor carrying out property maintenance work, t has been understandable concern in the profession, given the range of such staff, decorators, forestry, farm and equine workers, etc. with whom rural practitioners and their clients regularly work, often in potentially high risk roles. These will typically be ‘sole trader’, lone workers and firms will be keen to ensure compliance with the law (both health and safety and the civil law of negligence and occupiers’ liability, and possibly other relevant provisions such as the Animals Act) and, importantly, to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of any such workers they have dealings with.
This seminar will set out the scope of obligations, suggest a template for compliance and provide an opportunity to explore situations which delegates may have encountered in practice.
