About Program

Program Overview

Students develop solutions and computer programs to activate computer game interaction to build high-quality 2D and 3D games. They will also collaborate on projects with fellow programmers and game artists to create a commercially viable game from concept to live prototype.

In this software engineering program, students not only learn about current challenges and solutions in software design and architecture, but they are also taught to develop solutions that are based on professional clean and secure code and learn about the new trend in mobile application development. The students will be able to build software and design and implement smart software benefit from the learning outcome from cloud computing and machine learning.

Program Outline

IT skills are becoming more and more relevant in the labour market 4.0 - thanks to constant technical developments and advancing digitalisation, skilled workers are in demand like never before. The Bachelor of Science Software Engineering at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences trains you for exactly this scenario and is taught entirely in English to best prepare you for your future everyday working life in an internationally oriented industry.

In addition to disciplinary courses in the areas of programming, big data, IT security and artificial intelligence, business English also plays a central role in the programme. For all our seminars, students have access to excellent technical equipment in our campus computer labs - this allows them to put their acquired theoretical knowledge directly into practice.

Each of the courses in the Software Engineering Bachelor is taught by industry experts through a range of teaching methods, including regular face-to-face classes, practical exercises and also group work. Class sizes are deliberately kept small to facilitate interaction and promote effective learning. This also ensures that all students receive excellent support from their lecturers. Since the Bachelor of Science Software Engineering can be started in either the winter or summer semester and can be studied in any order, the programme also offers students with existing commitments sufficient flexibility.

In courses from the areas of backend development, cloud computing and parallel programming, but also software testing, agile IT development, machine learning, GUI design and basics of media communication, you will not only learn about different programming languages and system databases, but also how to develop software, plan projects and work together in a team.

As in all of our practice-oriented degree programmes, the Software Engineering Bachelor also includes a semester abroad or a practical semester. This takes place in the 5th semester and allows you to gain valuable new experience and also make important contacts for your professional future.

In the course of the Software Engineering Bachelor's degree, you have the opportunity to choose your preferred specialisation from a variety of modules, including Management Basics, Start-Up Management as well as Mathematics and Statistics - so you are optimally prepared for your future career path after graduation.

After the Software Engineering Bachelor's degree, there is the option of adding a corresponding Master's degree on the one hand, and on the other hand, many exciting positions are already available in local or international companies. Software engineering graduates are in high demand and can work in specialised software companies or public institutions as well as in management consulting or in software and IT departments of large corporations.

Depending on your specialisation, there are various jobs and positions to choose from, such as:

  • CRM Developer
  • Full Stack Developer
  • Software Test Manager
  • Consultant Cloud Solutions
  • Consultant Cyber Security
  • Software Architect
  • Security Engineer
  • Data Scientist

According to WeAreDevelopers, software developers can earn between €40,000 and €135,000 gross per year across all disciplines. StudyCheck gives an annual average of around €45,000 gross as a starting salary. How high your future salary will be, however, also depends strongly on the size of the company you work for. Generally, the larger the company, the higher the salary after completing your Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering.

Focus on practice

The Bachelor of Science Software Engineering is practically oriented - both the general study content and the semester abroad or practical semester ensure that our students are optimally prepared for their later entry into professional life and accumulate valuable hard and soft skills.

Internationally oriented

As an international university, the University of Europe for Applied Sciences is affiliated with the Global University Systems network. Many of our degree programmes are taught in English and our students and professors come from over 50 countries around the world.

Experienced university

UE can now look back on more than 20 years of success. We know how to develop outstanding study concepts and have built up an extensive partner network from which our students also benefit during and after the Software Engineering Bachelor.

Personality counts

While regular universities and colleges rely on NCs, at UE we look at your personality, interests and passions. To enable you to develop your full potential during your studies, the seminar groups are small and the supervision by our lecturers is personal and intensive.
