Health Foundation Year

Program Overview

The Health Foundation Year is a one-year program that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to progress onto undergraduate degree programs in health and wellbeing fields. The program includes six core modules and optional modules, and assessments are designed to provide students with opportunities to practice academic skills and receive feedback. The program is delivered on Canterbury and Medway campuses and utilizes a blend of on-campus and online learning activities.

• Successful completion of the program guarantees students a place on their chosen BSc or BA course.

Modules:

Individual Modules:

• Academic Skills for Higher Education (20 Credits): Introduces students to essential academic skills and study techniques.
• Introduction to Healthcare, Social Care and Public Health (20 Credits): Provides a broad overview of the healthcare, social care, and public health sectors.
• Human Development through the Life Course (20 Credits): Explores human development from conception to death.
• Communicating for Health and Wellbeing (20 Credits): Develops students' communication skills in the context of healthcare and wellbeing.
• Optional Modules: Additional modules may be available depending on the student's chosen pathway.

Assessment:

Home (UK) Fees

The fees above are for the 2024/25 academic year but may be subject to change following any announcements by the UK Government (approved by Parliament) regarding maximum Undergraduate tuition fee caps for 2024/25. In addition, the University reserves the right to increase all full-time and part-time Undergraduate tuition fees mid-course, in line with any further inflationary increase in the Government tuition fee cap which is approved by Parliament. Students with an Overseas fee status will be eligible for an International student Scholarship fee discount of £1,500, which will be applied to all Full-time Undergraduate courses with a tuition fee of £15,500.
