About Program

Program Overview

This course is ideal if you're interested in product design, process design, system analysis or modeling.  MEng Awards are integrated master’s programmes which are treated for funding purposes as undergraduate degrees. The additional study in comparison with a BEng Honours award aims to provide them the opportunity to develop the potential to be a leader in the engineering profession and within the engineering industry. They will be able to deal with complex issues both systematically and creatively, make sound judgments in the absence of complete data, and communicate their conclusions clearly to specialist and non-specialist audiences. At the same time, greater subject specialism is allowed for by providing further study of Mechanical engineering and broadening can be achieved through a final-year group project at Level 7. This will contribute to the student’s formation as a professional engineer and can be the first step in achieving Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Mechanical engineers are required to understand and use scientific and technical knowledge. If they want to model mechanical engineering systems, predict system behavior and understand manufacturing processes and how they influence design, then our Mechanical Engineering degree could be for them. The course focuses on key engineering skills and illustrates - through the use of examples and problem-based learning - their application to relevant areas. The course will prepare them for a wide range of careers. They will develop an understanding of business management principles and the role of the mechanical engineer when working within a process to provide a product or service that meets a specific demand.
