This summer course provides students with a theoretical and practical foundation in fashion styling. Through a combination of lectures, workshops, and hands-on projects, students will gain the skills necessary to develop their own creative vision for fashion image creation, encompassing makeup, hair, location, lighting, and photography.
Course Content:
- Week 1: Introduction to fashion styling, key figures and trends, identifying personal style, understanding mood boards and concept development, fashion communication, and understanding fashion magazines and editorials.
- Week 2: Research and analysis, understanding target audiences and brand identities, developing a styling brief and concept, sourcing and selecting garments and accessories, creating a cohesive look and mood.
- Week 3: Makeup artistry and hair styling techniques for fashion photography, collaborating with makeup artists and hairstylists, creating a cohesive makeup and hair look for the desired style.
- Week 4: Location scouting and lighting techniques for fashion photography, understanding the importance of light and shadow, working with natural and artificial light, creating different moods and atmospheres.
- Week 5: Introduction to photography, understanding the basics of camera settings and composition, working with photographers, directing models, and achieving the desired aesthetic.
- Week 6: Post-production and editing techniques for fashion photography, understanding basic image editing software, selecting and editing images, creating a cohesive final portfolio.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed through a combination of individual and group assignments, including a final project that involves planning, styling, and photographing a complete editorial fashion shoot.
