Program Overview


Point Blank Music School offers a Summer School for aspiring music producers aged 11-17. This one-week program covers the basics of music production using Ableton, focusing on beat creation, sample editing, and track structuring. Students will learn from industry professionals, have access to industry-standard equipment, and receive personalized guidance through individual 1-on-1 time with instructors.

  • Building custom drum kits: Create your own drum kits from scratch.
  • Intros, build-ups, breakdowns & drops: Learn to craft captivating musical transitions in your tracks.
  • How to structure your track:
  • Introduction to mixing: Gain a fundamental understanding of mixing techniques.
  • Weekly Timetable: Monday to Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Teaching:

  • Expert Lecturers: Point Blank boasts a team of experienced music industry professionals as instructors, including:
  • Anna Lakatos: Musician, singer, and trained audio engineer specializing in 3D sound for film and music.
  • Dave Stone: One half of the Drum n Bass act Gerra & Stone, with tracks charting on Beatport and airplay on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, and Kiss FM.
  • Linton Bennett: Composer/producer for Dido, Warren G, All Saints, Jamelia, and Imogen Heap, signed to Motown in the US.
  • Max Heyes: Sound engineer and mixer with credits including Paul Weller, Oasis, Primal Scream, Jamiroquai, and Massive Attack.
  • Kevin Kerrigan: Composer who has worked with Bjork, Gwen Stefani, Eurythmics, Kylie, and Sting, among others.
  • Student Experience: Students have access to Point Blank's exclusive features, including access to industry-standard equipment, workstations, and individual 1-on-1 time with their instructors.
