Cancer and Molecular Pathology and Genomics Online MSc
This MSc will give you an in-depth knowledge of disease mechanisms and molecular technologies while also developing your critical and practical expertise. You’ll gain the essential training you need to pursue a research career. We also ensure you gain strong practical skills: you’ll take a research skills module and complete a three-month laboratory project. Taught by experts from Barts Cancer Institute, one of four partners in the Cancer Research UK City of London Centre, a world-leading hub dedicated to cancer biotherapeutics, this programme is delivered by the Barts Cancer Institute, a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence and part of the Cancer Research UK City of London Centre.

- Molecular Diagnostics and Therapeutics: provides an understanding of the principles and practice of molecular diagnosis in the detection and management of disease, including quality assurance issues.
- Molecular Pathology of Solid Tumours: provides students with detailed knowledge of the molecular mechanisms involved in cancer development and to give an appreciation of the current $ùhot topics in cancer research and their relevance to cancer diagnosis and management.
- Research Methods: teaches students the techniques and knowledge needed to critically appraise published research, and carry out a piece of original research.
- Research Lab Skills: teaches students hands-on experience of key lab techniques and the principles of how to interpret the findings.
- Lab Project: is a core component of the Masters courses. It is a substantial piece of full-time work which occupies the final three months of the course, running approximately from end of April/beginning of May to end of July.
- Cancer Screening and Prevention (Distance Learning): covers epidemiological methods and the causes of cancer, screening, and existing and new potential screening programmes.
