This one-year top-up course is designed for candidates who have completed at least two years of university or higher education study in a related subject. The course aims to enhance employability by providing vital industry experience through a work placement in the UK or abroad. Graduates have gone on to work in a variety of roles in organizations such as BBC, West Yorkshire Police, Evri, Microsoft, BT, and Amazon UK.
Outline:
The course covers a range of vital topics, including the development of database management systems and distributed and large-scale systems. Students will also learn and apply artificial intelligence algorithms, or explore the different technologies that can support the use of information technologies (IT) in organizations.
Assessment:
Assessment is varied and includes primarily coursework, quizzes, in-class tests, presentations, and demonstrations. There are opportunities for group working, in addition to individual assessments.
Teaching:
The course is taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions. An average of 16% of the study time on this course is spent with tutors (either face to face or online). The course emphasis is on the development of sound practical skills, alongside an understanding of theory.
