Program Overview


This Level 9 program in trust and safety management equips professionals with the technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and self-care practices needed to lead trust and safety teams in the Big Tech regulatory environment. Through a blended learning approach, learners gain expertise in data processing, regulation, content moderation, project management, and communication, preparing them for careers as Trust and Safety Managers, Content Moderation Specialists, and other related roles.

The program consists of nine modules taught across three semesters:


Semester 1:

  • Data Processing Technologies (5 ECTS): This module provides a working knowledge of computer programming and software development, and covers concepts of machine learning and data visualization.
  • Regulation and Compliance (5 ECTS): This module equips learners with a sophisticated understanding of the international media and communications regulatory environment, focusing on contemporary transnational trust and safety issues, compliance, and evolving policies.
  • Cultural and Political Evolution of Social Media (5 ECTS): This module analyzes the manipulation of online platforms, the development of misinformation studies, and the identification of abusive and harmful online behaviors.

Semester 2:

  • Applied Project Management for Trust and Safety Professionals (10 ECTS): This module provides learners with the necessary tools and techniques to critically evaluate project management in the industry, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and utilize relevant tools for business intelligence.
  • Platform Standards and Ethics (5 ECTS): This module examines the technology climate through a policy lens, covering early stages, regulations, influences, community standards, and the history of online toxicity.

Semester 3:

  • Self-Caring Practice in Occupational Contexts (10 ECTS): This module focuses on understanding and practicing self-care in work-related contexts, emphasizing self-awareness and processes supporting "self-knowing" in personal and professional environments.
  • Communication and Thinking Skills (10 ECTS): This module deepens communication skills in verbal, written, and data presentation forms, while enhancing learners' competencies in applied critical thinking, active listening, report writing, and interpersonal communication.
  • Digital Investigations (5 ECTS): This module focuses on the evolving online threat landscape and equips learners with a framework and skills to identify harmful narratives and uncover networks of toxic content creators.

  • Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account their relevant work experience and other qualifications.
