Degree Overview:
This program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and competencies to make a meaningful contribution to patient care in a safe and professional manner. It is underpinned by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Competency Framework for all Prescribers (2021) as adopted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Outline:
The program is a one-year part-time course consisting of three modules of study and 90 hours of practice learning. Students will attain both the academic award of Advanced Certificate and a recorded professional award Independent and Supplementary Nurse Prescribing (V300).
Assessment:
The program features a variety of assessment methods, including:
- 100% coursework for the modules "Health Assessment" and "Prescribing in Practice 6."
- A combination of coursework and an examination for the module "Pharmacotherapeutics in Prescribing."
- Practice-based learning through the "Nurse and Midwife Prescribing Practice Assessment Document (NMP PAD)," requiring students to complete a minimum of 90 hours in clinical practice and demonstrate achievement of the competencies within the document.

- Students may be eligible for exemption from the "Health Assessment" module if they can demonstrate their ability to use patient assessment skills in practice.
