Program Description:
This program is ideal for recent graduates, established artists, and education and community practitioners who wish to reinvigorate their practices and deepen their engagement in choreographic processes. The program balances theory and practice through studio-based activity, classroom seminars, and lectures. You will explore practice-research methods, artistic perspectives, collaboration, and your relationship with your audience. The program encourages you to personalize your studies based on your background, identity, culture, and movement practices.

Structure:
- One year full-time or two years part-time.

Course Schedule:
- Core modules: Choreographing the Self, Practice-Research Methods, Audiences and Documentation, Creativity and Collaboration.
- One optional module: Final Choreographic Research Project or Dissertation.
Individual Modules:
- Choreographing the Self: Introduces current practices and concerns in contemporary choreography, exploring various artistic perspectives and creating solo work.
- Practice-Research Methods: Explores the concept of "practice-research" through current literature and practices. Students design and trial a practice-research methodology related to their research interests.
- Audiences and Documentation: Investigates models of engaging with audiences of theatre and performance, including participant-spectatorship, technology-engaged performance, community engagement, and theatre historiography. Students consider their own audiences and engage in "artist survival" activities like identifying and reaching audiences, documenting their work, pitching for funding, and preparing grant applications.
- Creativity and Collaboration: Introduces different models of creative partnership, collaboration, and co-creation. Students develop a creative portfolio plan and engage in reflective practice.
- Final Choreographic Research Project: Develop an independent choreographic research project with a public-facing final performance outcome, supported by a supervisor and the program leader.
- Dissertation: Write a final dissertation focused on an area of research interest, supported by an individual supervisor.
