Global Arts Management (Level 6 Top Up) BA (Hons)


Degree Overview:

This one-year Global Arts Management Top-Up programme equips students with a global perspective for careers in the dynamic international markets of cultural industries. The program provides:

  • Academic understanding: Combines academic debates with business management skills applied to the arts from a global lens.
  • Practical tools and skills: Develops leadership skills in key areas like theatres, music venues, galleries, museums, and festivals.
  • Political and economic factors: Analyzes political and economic factors influencing cultural development at international, national, regional, and local levels.
  • Specialization: Allows students to develop their own interests and specialize as they progress.

Outline:

The program comprises four core modules delivered through various methods: lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars, group work, and self-directed study. A research trip to a major European city is also included.

  • Dissertation: In-depth research project focusing on an aspect of Global Arts Management.
  • Supported by lectures on research methodologies and structuring a dissertation. Analyzes contradictions and dilemmas in global cultural policy and provision. Includes a research project on another international country with the chance to visit a major European city.
  • Creative Enterprise in a Global Context: Reflects changing environments within the arts, emphasizing entrepreneurial skills.
  • Requires students to develop a creative business idea in a global context through interactive workshops, case studies, and business plan development.

Assessment:

Tailored to module content and learning objectives. Predominantly coursework-based with essays, reports, critiques, finance exercises, case study analyses, presentations, and a dissertation.
