Description:

This program offers a flexible online learning environment, allowing students to study at their own pace and convenience. The curriculum focuses on the practical aspects of outdoor living design, covering topics such as:

  • Design principles for outdoor spaces

Module 1: Design Technology & Materials

This module delves into the principles of designing outdoor living spaces and the transition between indoor and outdoor environments. Students will explore various materials, finishes, and furniture suitable for outdoor use while considering environmental factors and installation techniques. Students will learn how to maximize the visual impact of plants and create a harmonious flow between the interior and exterior spaces. They will develop design skills through sketching, rendering, and presentation board creation.


Module 3: Research & Independent Study

This module provides students with an opportunity to delve deeper into a chosen research topic related to outdoor living design. With support from their tutors, students will conduct independent research and develop a comprehensive design project showcasing their abilities and knowledge. This project will contribute significantly to their portfolio and involve the creation of visuals, presentation boards, technical drawings, and a written dissertation.


Assessment:

Assessments will primarily focus on design projects submitted throughout the course. Tutors will provide feedback and evaluation based on the quality of design, technical skills, and overall presentation. Additionally, the research project and dissertation will be rigorously assessed to evaluate students' research skills, critical thinking, and written communication abilities.
