Degree Overview:

This program aims to develop your skills as a professional film-maker, critic, event organiser, writer, or industry analyst, preparing you for a career in the creative industries. It achieves this by combining academic study of cinema with practical skills development. Key features of the program include:

  • Learning in a real cinema environment: The program partners with Leicester’s Phoenix Cinema and Arts Centre, providing access to a realistic cinematic setting and opportunities for placements.
  • Selecting a route: The program allows you to focus on specific areas of interest through optional routes in Creative Writing, Drama, English Language, English Literature, History, Journalism, or Media.
  • Benefitting from expertise: You will be taught by renowned experts in the field, including academics from the prestigious Cinema and Television History Institute (CATHI), guest lecturers from the film industry, and film professionals.
  • Gaining valuable international experience: The program offers opportunities to participate in the DMU Global program, including trips to Hollywood and the Cannes Film Festival.

Outline:
