Admission Requirements

General Entry Requirements:

  • EU Home Students: You are expected to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A -C) including Maths and English Language.
  • International Overseas Students (outside the EU): You are required to achieve a GCSE equivalent qualification in English Language at grade 9-4 (A -C).

General Requirements for All Applicants:

  • You must be actively engaged in your sport at a very high level – comparable to Junior International or higher (or expecting to be at that level within the next 12 months).
  • We will generally define ‘elite athlete level’ as competing at junior international level or higher, or expecting to do so within the next 12 months.
  • Applicants are treated on a case-by-case basis and are usually selected solely on the basis of their UCAS application and their sporting achievements.
  • An interview may be required in exceptional cases.

UK Qualifications:

  • If you are offering standard A Level qualifications, we will typically require BBC as the minimum condition for entry.
  • If you are offering BTEC qualifications, the typical entry requirement will be a DDM in a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.
  • If you are offering the IB Diploma, we will typically require a score of 30 points overall.

4. International Qualifications:

  • For students with qualifications from outside the UK, we accept a range of international qualifications.

English Language Requirements:

  • If English is not your native language, you are required to demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in English.
  • The University accepts a range of English language qualifications, including IELTS, TOEFL, and Pearson PTE Academic.
  • The minimum score required is typically 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.5 in each component.
