The program provides a strong foundation in electronics, mathematics, and computing, along with essential study and employability skills. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in cyber-physical systems, electronics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Program Outline

Degree Overview:

Electronic Engineering and Internet of Things (including foundation year) - BEng (Hons)

This four-year undergraduate degree with a built-in foundation year is ideal for individuals who want to study electronics and the internet of things (IoT) but lack the traditional qualifications or prerequisites for entry into the standard three-year degree. Upon graduation, students will receive the same award and title as those who have completed the regular three-year program.

Objectives:

  • Equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter careers in industries related to the Internet of Things and electronics.
  • Provide students with a strong foundation in electronics, mathematics, and computing along with essential study skills.
  • Enable students to gain valuable transferable and employability skills, including interview and job application skills through workshops.

Program Description:

  • The program features a foundation year designed to enhance study skills while grounding students in essential concepts of electronics, digital systems, and mathematics.
  • Skills gained during the foundation year are applicable to various professions and fields of study, aiding students in building a portfolio of highly desirable personal attributes.
  • Students share their foundation year with learners from other foundation year courses, allowing them to learn about different areas of study within the School of Computing and Digital Media.
  • This exposure broadens their perspective and provides insights into other domains within the electronics and computing sector.
  • In the subsequent three years, students follow the same course content and have access to the same module choices as learners enrolled in the Electronic Engineering and Internet of Things BEng program.
  • Flexibility exists for students who wish to change their degree specialization at the end of their foundation year.
