Program Overview

Learn how to design, carve and print using your own unique lino printing blocks during a workshop with Juniper Press.

Program Outline

Starting this Art Weekender, Juniper Press will guide you through the process of Linocut and will introduce you to the materials involved.

In addition to this, you will be taught how to use carving tools, through which you will learn basic Lino cutting techniques. Using the techniques learnt you will create a block that allows you to experiment with mark-making.

Following this, you are invited to start exploring your own ideas via the form of sketching and you will be shown how to transfer your own designs onto Lino prior to creating final compositions to carve.

As a result of the two-day print workshop you will create a set of A4 prints in your own chosen design.

    Juniper Press

Laura Bremner set up Juniper Press following her participation in a print making short course at Gray’s School of Art. The Graphic Designer was inspired by the physicality of drawing and the process of lino cut during the course and as a result created her own stationery and illustration company based in Aberdeenshire. Bremner’s work is influenced by the storytelling of Eastern European and Scandinavian folk art and the intricate details involved.
