About Program

Program Overview

This workshop invites you to learn the process of acid etching and enables you to experiment with the act of hammer texturing. The aim of this workshop is to design and make a copper pendant or bangle.

Program Outline

Taking place in our Jewellery workshop, a number of demonstrations will be carried out, including acid etching, hammer texturing and saw piercing.

Following demonstrations, participants can experiment with each method using pieces of metal to test.

Through this process, you will develop a basic understanding of these methods, sequentially creating a selection of test pieces that can be used for future reference.

Throughout the workshop, contextual examples will be shared, generating the discussion of shape, form, pattern, and texture. Subsequently you will be shown how to introduce both form and colour to your test pieces, aiding further experimentation.

You will develop a basic understanding of these methods to help you design and make your own copper pendant or bangle using the techniques learnt.

Later, participants can share and discuss each piece created.
