Program Overview
The Therapeutic Photography course at Robert Gordon University is the first of its kind in the world. You will develop the knowledge and skills to be able to confidently and competently use the technique in practice to enhance self-esteem, self-efficacy and empowerment.
Therapeutic Photography is the structured, guided engagement with the creative intervention of photography in order to produce images for exploration with clearly defined outcomes for the participant.
The course is aimed at professionals who are working with people who may be vulnerable, marginalised or reluctant to engage.
Program Outline
The course is delivered across two modules.
The first module focuses on dynamics, theory, skills, and outcomes of using Therapeutic Photography techniques. The module includes exploration of historic development, dynamics, underpinning theories and anticipated outcomes.
The second module is a participatory, experiential one in which you work together virtually to collate and explore images. You will be supported through this with the inclusion of recorded lectures, recorded interviews, and group tutorials to explore dynamics.
Modules
Modules and delivery order may change for operational purposes. The University regularly reviews its courses. Course content and structure may change over time. See our course and module disclaimer for more information.
