Program Overview
Looking into the origins of storytelling, this workshop will help you expand your imagination whilst being led through a process that supports you to find and create your own story. Your story will be used as the basis for making a pair of protype story brooches.
Program Outline
This workshop explores the art of making your own ‘wee’ book alongside the design and construction of your own accompanying brooch.
Taking inspiration from storytelling, you will learn how to create your own designs and how you can develop these designs into making your own physical product - a product through which you will communicate your own story.
Your outcome will include a ‘wee’ storybook and involves two full colour brooch prototypes made from card.
You will leave the workshop equip with the knowledge and ability to take your ideas forward into the production of your own individual product.

An alumnus of Gray’s School of Art, artist Gabrielle Reith is an illustrator and maker based in Scotland. Her work is the magical world of ‘Small Stories’ where every piece tells a tale. She makes elaborate pen and ink drawings that evolve into beautiful stories based on her and her children’s imagination, infused with traditional tales.
