You can study up to 30 credits at Summer University and you can select up to three modules on the same application form. If you would like to add a module later, or change one of your choices, then please email summer.university@tees.ac.uk.
Age restriction
Due to the content and delivery of our Summer University courses, it is advised that applicants are aged 16+ at the time of enrolment. All applicants under the age of 18 at the time of enrolment must provide a completed parental consent form and those under 16 years of age are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. You can download the parental consent form and send to summer.university@tees.ac.uk after you submit your application.

Program Outline
Outline:
This online Animation and Visual Effects Certificate course provides an introductory level program for individuals with little or no prior experience in the field. It explores the fundamental aspects of the 3D animation and visual effects process, encompassing areas such as:
- Animation: Introduction to animation principles and techniques.
- Modelling: Creating 3D models using industry-standard software.
- Texturing: Applying textures to enhance realism and detail in models.
- Lighting: Understanding the principles of lighting and its impact on visuals.
- Rendering: Generating high-quality images from 3D models.
- Compositing: Combining various elements to create the final visual output. The course utilizes online learning tools including:
- Pre-recorded video tutorials: These provide foundational knowledge and demonstrate key concepts.
- Live demonstrations: Instructors guide students through specific techniques in real-time.
Assessment:
Students demonstrate their understanding of the techniques covered throughout the course by submitting a portfolio of videos. The specific assessment criteria will be provided at the beginning of the program.
