Course details
What you study
You are taught at the University in five two-week blocks. A sixth single week block is scheduled for an opportunity to attend the British Medical Ultrasound Annual Conference. The Northern Region Ultrasound Simulation Centre is fully integrated into delivering this module.
How you learn
You are taught by various methods including keynote lectures, small group teaching, problem-solving and decision-making exercises, practical ultrasound sessions and inter-professional workshops. You are encouraged to take ownership of your own and your peers’ learning. Your direct contact time is supplemented with the University’s virtual learning environment.
To become an autonomous ultrasound practitioner you are required to carry out a clinical placement. At your placement you develop a comprehensive and critical understanding to practice in your chosen area of ultrasound. You also have a clinical mentor who guides you throughout your training and provides an invaluable source of support.How you are assessed
