What you study

Through a process of advanced skill development, you undertake the routine physical examination of the newborn. The live sessions, recorded lectures and interactive work concentrate on the aspects of the NIPE examination as well as discussions on other complications and referrals. You develop originality in your application of comprehensive knowledge along with evidence-based practice through a variety of teaching and learning strategies.

How you learn

The degree and master’s module run together but there are separate learning outcomes for each, and the level of the exam differs. Each has a separate online platform which provides access to learning resources and online support.

How you are assessed

You undertake a minimum of ten supervised neonatal examinations and a final examination of the newborn within your practice area. These examinations come together to form your portfolio alongside evidence of individual learning. You also complete a 90-minute multiple choice exam of 30 questions.
