Do you want to work for a company in an international market? Or do you want to find out more about how organisations operate on the world stage? This degree course will provide you with the toolkit for your international journey.
Get equipped with the professional and industry relevant foreign language vocabulary you need in a specialist module at each level of study. Dedicated language tutors will support you in small groups, whether you are a complete beginner or have more advanced language skills.
You will benefit from real-life work experience throughout your studies. Enjoy learning from industry speakers, global examples and business simulations. Develop the skills that employers are looking for like graduate Vicky Mcquaid who says: “The course offers excellent support and brilliant lecturers who are passionate about their teaching and subjects.”
We recommend you visit us at our business campus, which is both state of the art and welcoming. Only minutes from Chester’s historic city centre, and nestled alongside the banks of the River Dee, this is a special and unique place that will enable you to flourish and grow from undergraduate student to confident business professional.
You are a name here. We value your uniqueness. Throughout your degree course, you will be mentored and supported by a Personal Tutor. These are people who will support you through life’s challenges. You will also benefit from our Student Experience Representatives. These are students who make sure that your voice is heard.
Why study this course with us?
Your transformation from new student to future business professional will begin from day one. In your first year you will gain an understanding of the business environment and develop fundamental management skills in marketing, people and organisations and finance. You will also progress your chosen language with dedicated business vocabulary.
In year two, you will translate this management knowledge to the wider world and gain a solid understanding of the challenging international business environment. Aspects such as globalisation, cultural variation and the challenges of different geographical, political and economic factors are addressed. You will develop your linguistic proficiency and cultural awareness in a business context with business vocabulary. You will also start to shape your career path by choosing an aspect of international business and get on-the-job experience in a 5 week work placement that suits your personal ambitions. Whether working in the UK, on a supported work placement in China or engaging in community projects in Costa Rica, or Africa students find this aspect particularly rewarding, as do future employers.
After your second year, you will have the chance to undertake an optional year-long placement which really brings your course to life and will enhance your graduate employment prospects. How does a study and work placement in Australia sound? That’s what Vicky McQuaid experienced during her time with us and is just one of many great placement opportunities this course provides. You may even have a year studying business and management abroad in Europe, North America, Asia or Australasia.
Your final year is even more tailored towards giving you the competitive edge you need to enter the area of business you want. You will carry out an original supervised research project into a subject you select and complete a module designed to maximise individual professional success. You will further develop linguistic proficiency and acquire specialised language in relation to international business. What you study will be anchored to today’s international business world – the top global companies and emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence and financial innovation.
