Delivered by Shockout Arts, our 2-year FdA Street and Hip-Hop Vernacular Dance course supports you to acquire and develop essential technical, artistic and theoretical competence through professional training at Level 5. If you're an aspiring dance artist, this foundation degree provides an ideal platform to begin your professional career in dance and the performing arts. In addition, as a foundation degree graduate, you'll be able to continue your studies at an advanced level by completing a level 6 final year top-up course to gain a BA (Hons) qualification. Our BA (Hons) Street Dance Artistry and Hip-Hop Theatre (Top-Up), also delivered by Shockout Arts, offers a seamless continuation of your studies with us. We'll consider your application through assessment and interview.

You'll be based at Shockout Arts, studying and training in their purpose-built, high-specification dance studios equal to professional industry standards. Alongside your intensive practical dance training, you'll have regular performance opportunities to help you develop a diverse range of performance and production skills.

In addition to exploring the core techniques, you'll be encouraged to build your skills in an exciting mix of urban styles and techniques, ready to take advantage of employment opportunities in Street Dance and Hip-Hop Theatre performance. You'll explore Breaking, Popping, Locking, House, Waacking, Voguing and Hip-Hop Foundations and be guided to develop a knowledge and understanding of the historical, cultural, societal and political factors that influence UK and international dance practice.

The teaching staff at Shockout Arts are professional and world-renowned practitioners and choreographers. They are keen to make the time you spend with them as stimulating and rewarding as possible and enjoy a well-deserved reputation for being approachable and interested in your progress.
