Course Overview

To aid the development of clinical practice, you will be required to demonstrate a comprehensive appreciation of transdisciplinary care and the need for appropriate referral to specialist services. The module will require you to evaluate and synthesise the development of your own clinical practice through reasoning and reflection.

  • Apply an in-depth knowledge and critical understanding of the normal anatomy and physiology of the child and their normal developmental stages and landmarks.
  • Critically evaluate and apply the underlying principles of assessment and recognition of a sick child to demonstrate understanding of the evidence-based management of paediatric emergencies.
  • Apply knowledge and critical understanding of the anatomy, physiology of normal pregNAcy and labour to the assessment and management of obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt interpersonal communication methods for caring for these patient groups, their families including partnership working in a transdisciplinary approach, critically evaluating scope of practice, and the need for referral
