Program Overview
This program blends hands-on filmmaking and television production with media theory, preparing students for careers in the creative industries. Through coursework, practical elements, and a work placement, students develop technical, critical, and business skills, while exploring the cultural and historical relationship between media and society. The program culminates in a final year focused on advanced filmmaking techniques, media history, and industry analysis.

Degree Overview:
This degree blends hands-on skill with thought-provoking theory, preparing you for a broad range of careers. You’ll study film making and TV production and analyze screen media. Explore the economic, cultural and historical relationship between media and society. Examine news, documentaries and the representation of gender in media. And analyze how media industries are organized and structured – and what you need to do to get ahead. Gain invaluable experience with a work placement as part of your course in the second year. Partnerships that give you access to bootcamps, masterclasses and visiting guest speakers to further prepare you for a career in the film and TV industry.

Assessment:
Assessment methods and criteria vary depending on the course and modules you choose. You may be assessed through a mix of examinations, coursework, presentations and group projects.

You’ll be taught by enthusiastic, expert staff who are fans of their field much as they are academics. Our lecturers include internationally respected Disney scholar, Dr Amy Davis, plus experts in horror, East Asian cinema, TV drama, American animation, British cinema and Hollywood cinema.

Tuition fees £9,250 per year The amount you pay may increase each year, in line with inflation - but capped to the Retail Price Index (RPI).

One you’ve successfully applied for this, you don’t need to do anything else – the money is sent straight to us. You can also take out a maintenance loan of up to £10,227 a year to cover your living costs, depending on your household income. Remember, you’ll still need to take into account your living costs. This could include accommodation, travel, food and more.
