Program Overview
This program enables participants to delve into the foundations of teaching, learning, and assessment in practice. Through exploration of the policy environment and evaluation of professional responsibilities, participants develop the skills to implement evidence-based practices and lead educational development. The module can be taken individually or as part of the MSc Health Professional Studies Programme or Faculty Professional Development Qualification Scheme (PDQS).

The module aims to provide the participants with the opportunity to explore the knowledge base that supports the management of teaching learning and assessing in practice in order to develop the role of the practice educator. It will enable participants to review and evaluate the relevance and significance of the policy environment for education in order to determine the need for change to support practice development. Critically appraise the impact of different professional responsibilities and approaches on the process of learning, responding creatively in a collaborative working environment. Implement and disseminate the evidence base in order to contribute to the development of professional practice enhancing the quality of learning experience. Contextualise their role in leading education in practice whilst recognising and managing competing demands. This module can be taken as a stand-alone option in the Faculty Professional Development Qualification Scheme (PDQS) or as an optional module of a pathway in the MSc Health Professional Studies Programme. The module is a requirement for those registrants who are undertaking the Post Graduate Certificate. – Educator in Practice and Post Graduate Certificate – Practice Assessor (Community) programmes.
