Description:

The program is divided into three years of study, with each year focusing on specific areas of law and history. In the first year, students will receive a strong foundation in the core areas of legal knowledge, including Public Law, Criminal Law, Contract Law, and Legal Skills. Additionally, they will choose modules from various historical periods, such as Early Medieval Wales, Britain in the Jazz Age, The Six Lives of Henry VIII, and The Guardians of Heritage. The second year builds upon this foundation by introducing students to more specialized areas of law, such as Equity and Trusts, Land Law, Law, Justice and Procedure, and Tort Law. Students will also continue their historical exploration by choosing modules from topics such as Britain in the Jazz Age, Holy Wars 1095-1197, Making History, Royal Propaganda in England and Wales, and The Civil Wars. In the final year, students will delve deeper into their chosen areas of law and history. They will complete modules such as The UK, EU Law and Brexit, Practical Professional Skills, Business Law & Practice, Property Practice, and Wills & Estates. They will also choose modules from historical topics such as Heritage and Identity, Hot Wars of the Cold War, Life of the edge: frontier society in Roman Britain, The Kingdom in the Sun, The United States, and Twentieth Century Ideas and Movements. Throughout the program, students will participate in a variety of learning activities, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, case studies, research projects, and presentations. They will also have the opportunity to participate in moots, where they will argue legal cases in a simulated courtroom setting.
