Degree Overview

This is an advanced and progressive programme that presents you with a unique opportunity to understand historical and contemporary developments in the economy, politics, culture, and society of Russia and the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia.


Objectives:

  • To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the history, culture, politics, economics, and society of Russia and the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia
  • To develop students' analytical and research skills
  • To prepare students for a variety of careers related to Russia and Eastern Europe, including government, diplomacy, business, academia, and journalism

Description:

The programme is taught by a team of internationally renowned experts in the field of Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. Students will have the opportunity to take a variety of courses on topics such as Russian history, politics, economics, culture, and society; European integration; the politics of Central Asia; and the Caucasus. Students will also have the opportunity to complete a dissertation on a topic of their choice.

Assessment

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


Academic Eligibility:

  • 2.1 Honours degree or non-UK equivalent in a relevant social science or humanities subject.
  • In case of applicants with qualifications below requirements, contact Glasgow International College for Pre-Masters courses.

Language Proficiency:

  • IELTS Academic: Overall 6.5 with no subtest below 6.0, taken within 2 years 5 months of start date.
  • TOEFL ibt/mybest/athome: 79 with Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18, Writing 21, within 2 years 5 months of start date.
  • PTE Academic: 59 with minimum 59 in all subtests, within 2 years 5 months of start date.
  • Cambridge CPE/CAE: 176 overall, no subtest less than 169, within 2 years 5 months of start date.
  • Oxford English Test: Oxford ELLT 7 with specific subtest requirements.
  • Trinity College Tests: ISE II, III & IV with high scores.
  • University of Glasgow Pre-sessional courses: Tests accepted for 2 years following completion.
  • Exception for majority-English speaking countries (including Canada if taught in English): Undergraduate degree (min 2 years) OR 2+2 degree (final 2 years) completed within the last 6 years.
