Year 1:

  • You will strengthen your foundation in grammar and vocabulary, allowing you to read and translate simple Latin passages.
  • You'll begin to study elementary Latin texts, focusing on developing your translation skills and understanding of Roman literature.

Year 2:

  • You will expand your vocabulary and refine your grammar skills, enabling you to tackle more complex Latin texts.
  • You'll engage with a diverse range of authors and explore different literary genres, including poetry, prose, and drama.
  • You'll develop your critical thinking and research skills through analyzing texts, researching topics, and writing essays.

Years 3 and 4 (Honours):

  • You will select from various specialized courses to delve deeper into specific areas of Roman culture and literature.
  • Course options may include historiography, elegy, epic poetry, fiction, drama, satire, oratory, Roman technology, Greek language and literature, and more.
  • You will have the opportunity to study and translate challenging Latin texts, analyze literary and historical topics, write research papers, participate in discussions, and present your findings.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:
