In an April 10 interview with BBC News, one of the UK’s top news outlets, the EdTech company, Educatly, spotlighted its innovative platform, services, and underlying technology, outlining the growing demand it seeks to meet in the global education market.
“Our goal is to help students make two of the most important decisions in life: what to study and where,” El Sonbaty told BBC News, highlighting the mission to provide access to all higher education programs available globally on Educatly, and offer to education what LinkedIn offers for careers
Educatly seeks to create space for Gen Z and Gen Alpha to engage and learn from one another about education and their academic futures—much like the communities they form on social media to discuss art, culture, and sports, according to the co-founder of Educatly, Abdelrahman Ayman.
Educatly strives for accessibility
“Our goal is to present students with information and opportunities in a simplified way,” El Sonbaty told BBC News. The platform currently features over 117,000 programs across various majors and degree levels from universities worldwide. Educatly aims to connect students to every possible opportunity—whether at public or private universities, in Egypt or abroad, or through scholarships.
Students can explore a wide range of programs and majors at any university through Educatly. They can assess their fit, learn about different universities and programs, and get support from Educatly’s team, who assist with finding the right program, applying, and getting started.
“To achieve accessibility, we work directly with universities to present their message to students in the most digestible way,” Ayman explained, adding that today’s young students prefer short-format content with a clear and concise message.
Educatly simplifies academic program curricula, university requirements, and the application process to guide students in selecting and pursuing educational paths while enabling universities to reach students globally.
“Educatly connected me directly to the university, which was very convenient,” said Saif Khalifa, an Egyptian student who used the platform to study abroad, in an interview with BBC News. “Even better, I didn’t have to wait for someone from the university to answer my questions. Educatly handled everything, sparing me the complications.”
Leveraging Technology for Global Education
Using artificial intelligence and technology, Educatly effortlessly updates university profiles on a regular basis.
“By using open sources to update our models, we can extract universities’ public information in a detailed and efficient way, presenting it to students in a simple format,” said Zeyad Saleh, engineering manager at Educatly.
Students can fill out their profile to specify their interests, goals, budget, and preferred country—information Educatly uses to personalize their search and offer tailored recommendations. Additionally, they can also connect with other students and alumni of any nationality studying at universities worldwide—a feature Khalifa highly endorsed.
“Talking to an Egyptian student, like myself, who had attended the university I was applying to, greatly simplified the process,” Khalifa said, noting that it helped him make a more informed and confident decision.
With advanced technology, Educatly ensures that all information and conversations are securely protected through a built-in system that enforces community standards, flagging inappropriate language and misconduct.
“Anyone, at any age, can use Educatly to search for a degree abroad,” El Sonbaty confirmed. “Whether you're a 40-year-old pursuing a second degree or a recent high school graduate starting fresh, Educatly can help.”
